Crystal Plamondon hails from Plamondon, a town in Northern Alberta founded by her Franco- American great grandfather in 1908. Crystal is a talented bilingual singer/songwriter/performer with a 35 year track record of consistently delivering passionate concerts that cover an emotional range from heart-warming ballads; as she demonstrates in her sixth studio album “TORCH” realizing a dream to sing Jazz classics; to her rockin’ country, cajun, roots style. Crystal never fails to connect with her audience because of her warmth, wit and report! Crystal has toured extensively in live music venues, theatres, and festivals through out North America and Europe.
She has received the Molson Canadian ARIA (Alberta Recording Industry Association) Performer of the Year Award. She has been recognized as an honorary citizen of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana. In 2004 she was awarded “Prix Sylvie Van Brabant” for Excellence in Artisque Creation in Alberta. In 2009 she was honoured with “prix CHFA de la chanson albertaine” for excellence in Alberta French Culture.
Crystal's second independent release, “CarpeDiem!” (1993) yielded two #1 hits in France. She released two other independent CDs – “La Rousse Farouche” (1996) “Plus de frontières /No Borders” (2002), both full of her bilingual original material.
She has performed twice in Ottawa, our nation’s capital, for Canada Day celebrations where she performed for Queen Elizabeth; and on October 18, 2000 she translated and sang the Famous Five Anthem for the inauguration of the “Women are Persons” monument on Parliament Hill. She represented Alberta and Canada twice at the Canadian Embassy in Paris and also represented Alberta & Louisiana in Belgium and France. In addition to hosting numerous television & radio programs and live events; she has an acting career including performances in TV productions, movies, and live theatre. In 1997 she hosted the French Country Music program entitled “CountryMax” on MusiMax, the sister station to Much Music/Musique Plus. On her program she interviewed numerous musical artists; Tim McGraw, Steve Earl, Terri Clark, Michael Martin Murphy, The Mavericks, Blue Rodeo. She filmed a television special, “Passeport Musique” in Benin, West Africa for CBC and BRAVO television networks in 1998. In 1999 she hosted, wrote & directed 5 segments of The Calgary Stampede for “Alberta Ce Soir” on Radio-Canada television.
2005 marked Crystal's lead performance in musical theatre; “Cow-Boy Poétré” a production of L'UniTthéàtre/The National Arts Centre, that toured the Maritimes and Alberta after its run in Ottawa. She appeared in the CBC television documentary “Alberta Bound” A Centennial Celebration; for Alberta’s centennial year hosting some of Alberta’s talent: Kurt Browning, k.d. lang, Jann Arden, Ian Tyson, Oscar Lopez, Nickelback, Corb Lund to name a few. She also produced, hosted and sang in an all Female Alberta Francophone production at the National Arts in Ottawa for Alberta’s centennial.

She produced the 13 song CD, 10 of the songs were her original material. “Forever More” was featured on the hit CBC-TV series Heartland Season 2 - Episode 210 in 2008.“Only Dreaming” for Heartland episode 303 - Season 3 in 2009.
“The Bridge” for Heartland episode 412 - Season 4 in 2010. She produced and sang all 3 songs for CBC’s Heartland.
In 2011 Season 5 - Episode 506 you hear Crystal’s song “Saving The Best For Last” from the same record.
In 2021 “Forever More” was heard again on Heartland Season 14 - Episode 1401. She has also appeared on numerous episodes of “Heartland”.
In 2010 Crystal and her band performed at the Olympic Torch Relay ceremonies in Calgary, AB. and sang our national anthem in English and French as the country watched.
In 2015 She released her 7th studio album of original material with a few spiritual covers called, “Half Gospel, Half Heartbreak” produced by herself and her band leader Gord Matthews; guitar player for k.d. lang and Ian Tyson, both of which he was with for 10 years.
In 2017 another great honour was bestowed upon her, as Crystal and her band performed live for Canada’s 150th Anniversary in Calgary, AB to a sea of proud Albertans.
In 2019 she returned to live theatre and was “Simone” the lead in the L’UniTheatre Production of “Simone et le Whole Shebang”.
She has performed for Prime Ministers, Alberta Premiers and Prince Edward and Princess Sophie, and Prince Albert of Monaco. She loves performing and meeting everyone! She wants everyone to have an evening full of joy, laughter and a few sentimental moments, and always hopes people leave her concerts happier and lighter than when they arrived. She continues writing songs in English and French and fulfilling her dream of writing and producing her own projects for film and television.

La deuxième sortie indépendante de Crystal, "Carpe Diem!" (1993) a produit deux succès n°1 en France. Elle a sorti deux autres CD indépendants – « La Rousse Farouche » (1996) « Plus de frontières/No Borders » (2002), tous deux remplis de son matériel original bilingue.
Elle s'est produite à deux reprises à Ottawa, la capitale de notre pays, pour les célébrations de la fête du Canada, où elle a joué pour la reine Elizabeth et le 18 octobre 2000, elle a traduit et chanté l'hymne des cinq célèbres pour l'inauguration du monument « Les femmes sont des personnes » sur la Colline du Parlement. Elle a représenté l'Alberta et le Canada à deux reprises à l'ambassade du Canada à Paris et a également représenté l'Alberta et la Louisiane en Belgique et en France. En plus d'héberger de nombreux programmes de télévision et de radio et des événements en direct; elle mène une carrière d'actrice, notamment dans des productions télévisées, des films et des pièces de théâtre. En 1997, elle anime l'émission de musique country française intitulée « CountryMax » sur MusiMax, la station sœur de Much Music/Musique Plus. Dans son émission, elle a interviewé de nombreux artistes musicaux ; Tim McGraw, Steve Earl, Terri Clark, Michael Martin Murphy, The Mavericks, Blue Rodeo. Elle a filmé une émission spéciale « Passeport Musique » au Bénin, en Afrique de l'Ouest pour les réseaux de télévision CBC et BRAVO en 1998. En 1999, elle a animé, écrit et réalisé 5 segments du Stampede de Calgary pour « Alberta Ce Soir » à la télévision de Radio-Canada.
L'année 2005 a marqué la principale performance de Crystal dans le théâtre musical ; « Cow-Boy Poétré », une production de L'UniTthéàtre/Centre national des Arts, qui a fait une tournée dans les Maritimes et en Alberta après sa tournée à Ottawa. En 2010, Crystal et son groupe se sont produits lors des cérémonies du relais de la flamme olympique à Calgary, en Alberta. Elle a chanté notre hymne national en anglais et en français sous les yeux du pays.
En 2015, elle a sorti son 7ème album studio de matériel original avec quelques reprises spirituelles intitulées « Half Gospel, Half Heartbreak » produites par elle-même et son chef de groupe Gord Matthews ; guitariste de K.D. lang et Ian Tyson, avec lesquels il a travaillé pendant 10 ans.
En 2017, un autre grand honneur lui a été décerné, alors que Crystal et son groupe se sont produits en direct pour le 150e anniversaire du Canada à Calgary, en Alberta, devant une mer de fiers Albertains.
En 2019, elle revient au théâtre et incarne « Simone » dans la production L’UniTheatre de « Simone et le Whole Shebang ».
Elle s'est produite devant les premiers ministres de l'Alberta, le prince Edward, la princesse Sophie et le prince Albert de Monaco. Elle adore jouer et rencontrer tout le monde ! Elle souhaite que tout le monde passe une soirée pleine de joie, de rires et de quelques moments sentimentaux, et espère toujours que les gens quitteront ses concerts plus heureux et plus légers.
